What Games Do You Game (19.10.08)

Jesus Christ, i’ve got to get this up on a Friday at some point. Once again WGDYG? is late this week but I think the fact that it’s October and there’s tons of stuff coming out is a bit of an excuse. This week has been a great week, i’ve picked up two of my most anticipated games and the FIFA torch is burning bright once again. Isn’t 2008 a great year for games. As per usual, hit the jump for the list.

• Saints Row 2 (PS3) – Even with all of it’s, fairly minor, faults this game is truly amazing. It might not have the polish that Grand Theft Auto IV has but it’s still amazing. Rockstar went for a more realistic, story driven game this time around and left a lot of the really stupid, crazy stuff out. Saints Row 2 is the opposite of this it’s entirely quirky and stupid and the story has a lot to be desired but the ammount of great content to experience in this game is immense. The game does hold it’s own as a single player game but it’s in co-op that the game shines. I’ve been playing this in co-op with, our very own king of comments, Ad’s and although it’s frustrating at times (probably because I can’t drive/fly) but it’s still a ton of fun. Especially ‘Heli-Attack’, that mode is awesome.

• LittleBigPlanet (PS3) – I was very lucky to snag an early (now recalled) copy of Media Molecule’s masterpiece at the same time as I picked up Saints Row and, although I played the beta, it still surpasses my expectations. Surprisingly, I haven’t played it as much as Saints Row (probably because it’s more fun in co-op). Hopefully the servers go up tomorrow so I can refine my level (‘LittleBigFooty’). The ‘story’ is still cool, all of the environments are really quirky and there’s some amazing level design in there. Can’t wait until the rest of the world gets their copies because it’ll be even better then.

• Resistance 2 Beta (PS3 Via PSN Via Darren Uddenberg) – Darren was nice enough to send me his beta code for Resistance 2 this week and although i’ve only had a small ammount of time with it, i’m really loving it right now. As per usual i’m using the good ol’ sniper rifle. I’ve not gotten chance to play it in co-op yet but I plan on doing so before the beta ends.

So there we have it folks, that’s one of the best lists in a while. Although it only consists of three games it’s three of the years top games and i’m sure in the coming weeks they’ll be more to talk about. So many games so little money time.
