Ubisoft Confirm ‘Assassins Creed: Brotherhood’

After week’s of speculation, Ubisoft have officially confirmed the follow-up to Assassins Creed II will release in 2010.

Assassins Creed: Brotherhood is a title that’s been rumored for a while now and the French developer has officially confirmed the game’s existence, even though the cat was well and truly out of the bag. A GameStop employee send the above image to Kotaku and Ubi have confirmed that the image is completely legit.

This confirms that, ACII protagonist, Ezio Auditore Di Firenze will be back and the box art confirms a few more choice details about the game.

“Live and breathe as Ezio, now a legendary master assassin, in his struggle against the Templar order. Lead your own brotherhood of Assassins and strike at the heart of the enemy: Rome. And for the first time, take part in an innovative multiplayer layer allowing you to embody an assassin of your choosing and define their killing style.”

The captions under the screenshots also give us a little bit of information. Players will be able to have “A never-before-seen online multiplayer experience” – something that was mentioned by Ubisoft previously. The ability to “Lead your own brotherhood of assassins, as Ezio, and conquer Rome.” certainly sounds cool and could be similar to the multiplayer experience presented in Red Dead Redemption. The final tidbit of info is a pre-order sticker promoting an “exclusive” multiplayer character. Kotaku have surmised that this could be Altair. It’s something that wouldn’t be too far fetched.

Ubisoft alluded to the fact the game was in production during an earnings call a few months back and, just two weeks ago, a domain name was registered for the game. This ‘reveal’ certainly lends a little bit of credibility to the rumor that a new Driver game, Driver: San Francisco, is in production too.
