I’d just like to wish all of our readers a Happy New Year. I hope that 2009 is a good year for everyone and judging by the lineup early on in the year it should be a good one for us gamers.

We’ll hopefully be trying to predict the future in a feature coming up in the next few days. We’ve also got an interview with EPOS games’ Olof Gustafsson, talking about the recently released Crash Commando as well as a review of the aformentioned title. Hopefully the competitions will begin again in the new year too, so there should be some good stuff on offer.

Other than that, on behalf of myself and the team, I want to wish you all a Happy New Year and hope that the year 2009 will be a prosperous one.

It’s been one hell of a year and there’s been some really amazing games released in 2008 and I feel that XeNonX should honour these fine pieces of art (yeah, I said it) in the first annual ‘XeNonX Game Of The Year Awards’. I will post the nominees for each category now, but due to complications the winners will not be announced until early January (that’s my fault). Hey people, it’s time for the XeNonX cerew to go on break. Although we are people of the internet, we need to spend time with loved ones, open presents and gorge on food too ya know.

We’ll be back on December 29th with our Game Of The Year Nominees and will be fully up and running in the new year. Of course if anything major occurs during our time off (like Microsoft going bump, Wii’s killing Miyamoto) then of course we’ll be there covering it for you guys.

Other than that, i’d just like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays) and we’ll see you soon.

Ok it’s been gone a couple of weeks (again!) but it’s back for the final time in 2008, with a special edition. I’ve gathered the whole crew here ( for the first time ever, I might add) for the ‘What Games Do you Game: Christmas/ New Year Backlog Edition’. Hit the jump for the juicy bit.

Anthony – I guess i’ll kick things off then. In between the usual feasting and gift giving i’ll more than likely be playing Fallout 3. Up until last week this game was still sitting up on the shelf, almost untouched, and now you’re more than likely to find it sitting inside the PS3 waiting to be played. I’m also aiming to beat Call Of Duty: WAW and Resistance 2 sometime in the near future too, hopefully the break will help. Of course Christmas will add more games to the stack (always good) so they’ll be getting played too. Oh how I love Christmas.

Ad’s- Over Christmas and New Year I will probably be watching a hell of a lot of Blu-rays as I will finally be able to hook up my new 7.1 speaker package (hurry up Christmas Day). In anticipation I have bought quite a few Bd’s with 7.1 DTS Master Audio such as Shoot em up, Crank, Rambo and The Bank Job. I also need to find time to watch the Band Of Brothers boxset, Hancock, The Dark Knight (which I think my sis has put under the tree for me, ta Louise), Transformers and Wall E . I might also fit in Live Free Or Die Hard just to sample the amazing audio in the shootout scene in Matt Farrels apartment.

As for ps3 games I will be playing anything in my library with 7.1, so a bit of Resistance 2 (co-op, as I prefer the originals online to this), Motorstorm 2, Virtual Fighter 5, Virtua tennis 3 and maybe some Warhawk . I might also find time for a few rounds of sniping on WAW, some FIFA ( If Anthony fancies a hammering)  aswell as playing more of the highly addictive FM09 on PC. Hope you all have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Ryan – Over this holiday, i’ll be catching up on a lot of unplayed games. First and foremost, Fallout 3. I’ll be sinking my time into that one for hours on end. I think i’ll be playing a little Dead Space here and there too. Other than that i’m going to watch The Dark Knight another 50 times and play Left 4 Dead a lot. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays readers.

Giancarlo – I don’t have my PS3 with me for the holidays, but once I get back it’ll be Prince Of Persia and Call Of Duty for me. I’ve completed Tomb Raider already and i’m not looking to pick up anything until March.

Darren – I’m still waiting on Chrono Trigger DS, i’m trying to get to level 55 in World Of Warcraft to enjoy Lich King and I can’t wait to get into GTA IV (sad I know) and BioShock.

Steve – As Christmas rolls around again, my ever growing collection of unplayed games is screaming for attention and the prospect of actually getting some quality gaming time in is a possibility, I’ve decided I’m going the sentimental route this year.  After Naughty Dog’s recent unveiling of Uncharted 2 I’ve made the decision to revisit the original game. This will be play through number 4, and having already beaten this gem of a game on crushing, I’ll be taking a more leisurely approach to Nathan Drake’s adventure.  Like one of those movie classics that gets re-run every year to fill in a lazy post turkey dinner afternoon, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is a game I never seem to get tired of revisiting.

Due to some unforseen complications, the XeNonX GOTY (Game Of The Year) nominations have had to be put back a few days. We were originally meant to announce the nominees today, but said circumstances have caused us to move the post back until December 29th. I do appologise for this, to compensate i’ll be putting my review of Astro Tripper up today as well as a few more things too (hopefully), so please stick around folks.

As, well, probably none of you will know, I am not a full time ‘video games journalist’. I am a college student and this occasionally gets in the way of things such as writing for the site. For the past three months i’ve been working on the above video. I, with my fellow cohorts, have been working pretty much none stop to make sure this video makes it out before the deadline (10:30 Friday 12th December). This has lead to some setbacks in the amount of news and features on the site, for that I apologize. I do hope you recognize why I have had to put this project first, but also want to say that XeNonX has my full attention from here on out.

I realise by now that most of the people reading this think i’m either a wuss or full of shit. I’ll leave it for you do decide, but whilst you do, why not stick on the video and well…I don’t know, do something I guess.

Hey there readers, sorry it’s a bit late but we’re back for the second (or third) week running with What Games Do You Game? This week I am joined by News and Video editor Ryan Gray as we run through the games we’ve been playing over the last seven days. You know the drill, hit the jump for the rest.

Anthony Barlow – Okay, this week i’ve been playing a hell of a lot of Call Of Duty: World At War. Since last week i’ve gone and traded in my copy of COD4 and i’m glad I did. This game does everything Modern Warfare did and more. The multiplayer is as good as ever and the campaign is enthralling. I urge anyone who has their doubts about this to pick it up. Believe it or not Treyarch have done a good job this time. Other than that i’ve been playing a little FIFA 09 because manager mode is awesome and never gets old as well as a bit of Burnout Paradise, going for that last, elusive gold trophy. Other than that, there’s nothing really. I’ve got Fallout 3 in my backlog and really want to play it, but i’m waiting on Bethesda to work their magic and give us a much needed patch. Over to Mr. Gray for our closing piece.

Ryan Gray - Right now i’ve been gaming Midnight Club L.A. heavily. This is a tough racer, but winning races, after mastering the controls, is incredibly rewarding. Plus, i’ve always loved racing games, so this was a no brainer. I’ve also still been playing a lot of Gears Of War 2, it just never gets old. I’m hoping my local Blockbuster gets Mirrors Edge back in stock. I’ve been waiting to play that for a while. Over to Anthony.

Another week, another edition of ‘What Games Do You Game?’ This week i’m joined by news/video editor Ryan Gray and ‘King Of Comments’ Ad’s. This had a lot of big releases, all of them living up to their expectations and others surpassing them. The PS3′s biggest release was, by far, Resistance 2 and there’s been a ton of cool multiplatform stuff too. Oh yeah and something called Gears Of War 2…whatever that is.

Anthony – So this week my copy of Resistance 2 finally arrived (hooray for importing) and I have to say, although it has it’s flaws, Insomniac have really pulled out all the stops with this one. Although the story is a little weak, the campaign is still really engrossing and i’m powering through it on ‘Difficult’ mode. The multiplayer is amazing, and is by far the best part of the package. Especially the co-op missions. Other than that i’ve played little else since recieving my copy. I finally got my 1st platinum from ‘Burnout: Paradise’, which is pretty cool and the announcment of new content only makes me love the game more. I have had fleeting visits to Rock Band and FIFA 09, but not as much as usual. 2008 – The year of the gamer.

Ryan – This week for me has been a Gears Of War 2 week. Yes I realize it’s an Xbox 360 exclusive, but it’s really got me hooked. I can’t beat the campaign because every time I try I get invited to an online game, and the online is ridiculous. It is one of the most complete experiences of the year. I’ve also been jumping back to Far Cry 2 here and there. I will be renting Mirror’s Edge probably tonight, you can expect that review in the very near future. Other than that I’ve just been embracing all the gaming goodness that has graced our consoles these past weeks.

Ad’s – This week i’ve been sniping a hell of a lot. Like Anthony, I too recieved my copy of Resistance 2 in the post. I thought the campaign was more than a little weak and it really didn’t engross me. I liked the multiplayer a lot and would probably still be playing it now, but then Call Of Duty: World At War turned up and, well, I love it. It beats Resistance in so many ways and I think it could be a surprise entry for Game Of The Year.
