Hashimoto claims details are forthcoming and, one can only assume, we’ll hear something more next week at E3. That said, it could be one of the barrage announcements coming from Squeenix throughout the year. As TheSixthAxis said: “it could also mean we’re not far away from seeing the longest cut scene in the history of gaming”.

We might not know much, but there was the picture of Kojima in front of a screen with Front Mission Evolved on it. Hmm…

GamePro contributor, Ben PerLee was told that the game could have a life beyond Sony’s handheld. 

“So after I had done the preview, [Konami] had a Q/A session with us to get our complaints/ideas about the game,” PerLee reported. “Other than the basics, they asked what we thought about if they released it on PSN for the PS3 as well and had online multiplayer.”

It’s not uncommon for developers to ask such questions, so this is definitely not concrete evidence. However, the fact that Konami are even thinking such things is sure to excite fans of the franchise (fans like yours truly). This doesn’t necessarily relate directly to Peace Walker and could be a hint as to Mr. Kojima’s next adventure. Only time will tell.

As far as we know the demo exactly the same as the one released at TGS earlier in the year, so if you know your Japanese there’s no need to download this. Do it anyway though. I mean, c’mon, it’s Metal Gear.

Konami have released a slew of new screens and, as Kojima isn’t one to do things by halves, a nine minute trailer showcasing the co-op gameplay that seems to be the focus of Peace Walker. The media frenzy is after the jump.

That’s right people, the date is set for the best (yes that’s a fact) game to ever be released on any console ever to come to the PlayStation Store. Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece, Metal Gear Solid, is coming to a PS3/PSP near you this month.

The game is coming to the U.S. on June 18th and I wouldn’t bet against it also appearing in Europe that week or a week later akin to the classic release of Final Fantasy VII. No pricing has been formally announced, but you can bet that it’ll be $9.99/£7.99.

I can’t wait to play this game on the go again (sorry for the obvious pun).

The, not so, shock announcement of a 360 Metal Gear game was made by Microsoft on Monday, but it wasn’t Metal Gear Solid 4. Hideo Kojima took the stage in LA and said “I didn’t say anything about Solid Snake”. Intriguing.

The new game, entitled Metal Gear Solid Rising, was revealed at the end of the Microsoft press conference in LA, but MS made no mention of the game’s exclusivity. Just after the reveal, industry website, GamesPress noted that the game would be multiplatform and would be coming to, both, PS3 and PC as well as the Xbox 360.

This was confirmed yesterday at Konami’s presser. That’s right the new MGS featuring Raiden will be coming to a platform near you in 2010. As a Metal Gear fanboy you can definitely consider me excited.

No, this isn’t a Tom Jones-esque, love-filled ode to Hideo Kojima. On the contrary i’m actually asking why the great man must tease us like this?

For those who don’t know, the Kojima Productions website was updated the other day with a ‘teaser image’, shortly after this image started to show a number 5 and a countdown timer, which ended on Friday. “Well what did that timer reveal?” I hear you ask. Wel…nothing really. The site was updated with a new countdown (set to end on the 26th), but the image now ‘spells out’ “5 @ E3″. Now that sounds promising doesn’t it?

Does this mean Kojima is going to announce MGS 5? Well according to a Japanese 7-Eleven (yes, I know, what a great source of information) the next issue of Famitsu PS3+PSP is going to be talking about a new Metal Gear game. Even more promising don’t you think.

Sure, this could all just be a ruse another Red Herring in Kojima’s twisted labyrinth of a plan. Seriously though, it looks like the writing is on the wall at this point, doesn’t it?

No I’m not telling the world to stop bullying the creator of Metal Gear, he’s just got a little bit ‘teasy’ a few weeks before E3. The swine!

It’s just hit one in the morning and as you can see i’ve begun to talk like Russell Brand but, that aside, Hideo Kojima, or rather Kojima Productions, have a new teaser site up. The site originally showed an overcast field and, as of yesterday, the site was updated…a little.

The heavens have now opened on the image and the weather has gotten a little worse. A countdown timer has now appeared as has a number 5. The countdown timer is set to finish on May 21st (or 22nd depending where you live) so hopefully more will be revealed then.

This transparent “5″ certainly suggests a new Metal Gear game, but of course this is Kojima we’re talking about. His teasers have got enough Red Herrings to confuse Sherlock Holmes for god’s sake.

Whatever it is, I’m looking forward to it.

Hideo Kojima was doing another, rather cool, talk in San Francisco today. Away from the hustle and bussle of GDC, the esteemed creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, confirmed that he would be talking about a new Metal Gear Solid title at this years E3 at a Metal Gear Solid Touch Q&A in a San Francisco Apple store.

Of course we have no idea what this game will be, or what platform it will be on, but judging by what was said during his GDC keynote speech about “the next Metal Gear Game” it seems pretty likely that it will be on home consoles.

Come on Kojima, don’t lose faith support team Sony. Those Microsoft big wigs can’t love you like we do.

As the picture above shows, Kojima was talking Metal Gear Solid in his keynote at GDC. As always, the Japanese mastermind, provided those watching with more questions than answers, but the vote is still a good one when it comes to his keynote.

The image that tops this post, is obviously the talk of the keynote, if not the whole show. It teases a bright, yet somewhat predictable future, where MGS4 isn’t the last of the Metal Gear games. It looks to be a future full off…what’s that in the top right? Raiden? Quite possibly. The image comes courtesy of Joystiq who have, handily, blown the image up to show the mystery figure (below).

Well…it definitely could be Raiden, it does seem like natural progression for him to be Snake’s successor in the Metal Gear franchise. Especially now he’s so bad ass and not a blonde, skinny wimp who cartwheels around with his arse out. Only time will tell, god this better be at E3 (and PS3 exclusive) because Sony are going to have one hell of a show if it is.
