Special Feature: Game Of The Year Predictions
[By Xenonx Staff]
Ahh yes. It’s that time of year my friends. The time of year where every gamers wallet gets completely drained all for the sake of virtual awesomeness. Theres an incredible selection of games coming out very soon. We here at Xenonx have been thinking and we each have our own foresights on what will be game of the year. Hit the jump to find out what we editors think will come out on top as this years top game.
Anthony Barlow’s (Editor in Chief) Choice- Little Big Planet
Why he chose it: My pick would have to be LittleBigPlanet. I originally thought that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be my GOTY for this year but the way Media Molecule have innovated with LBP has just blown me away and I can’t wait for it’s release later this month.
Ryan Gray’s Choice- Fable 2
Why he chose it: This choice took a hell of a lot of thinking. Games running through my mind such as Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, Gears Of War 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts n Bolts, and more. Just too much to grasp. Then I realized that one of these games just really shined as a masterpiece of video gaming. Fable 2 is that game. Fable 2 is innovating like I’ve never seen games do. There is so much to Fable 2 that it’s almost overwhelming, but the folks over at Lionhead studios are some how making it work flawlessly. I have extremely high hopes for this game, and will be playing it into the ground.
Giancarlo Feltrin’s Choice- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots
Why he chose it: MGS4 rises above all the hype it was given and delivers an epic final hurrah of iconic character Solid Snake. The storyline is the most engaging in the franchise, and Snake’s trails are awe-inspiring. The cinematography of the game creates urgency and tension building all the way up to Snake’s last battle. The final scene, which it doesn’t end with a bang – but in peace and serenity, is beautifully depicted and can’t even be achieved by most feature-length films. The voice acting is stellar, notably David Hayter, and every character manages to capture the player with an overwhelming sense of emotion. This is storytelling at its finest.
Darren Uddenberg’s Choice- Little Big Planet
Why he chose it: I am leaning to Little Big Planet to be the big hit this year, after the somewhat disappointment with spore I see LBP sweeping up the audience that Spore couldn’t reach.
Ad’s Choice- Little Big Planet
Why he chose it: “I won’t beat about the bush, my GOTY is LBP. If you have played the
beta you will know why I have chosen it. There is my reasoning, short,
but I’m sure you will agree, effective.”
Looks like most of the staff has leaned towards Little Big Planet, but what do you think?
