Sony In The Black For Fiscal Q1?

Japanese newspaper Nikkei (translated by Andriasang) are reporting that Sony have entered the black for 2011′s first fiscal quarter (April 30th – June 30th).

In a financial report, the newspaper stated that Sony are set to announce this in the coming days and will have made an operating profit of between 10 billion and 30 billion Yen ($114.63 million – $343.89 million). It also seems that the games division is behind some of this, achieved via their “cost-cutting measures.”.

It’s good news for Sony and even better for the games division. A profitable quarter for them has been a rarity in recent years. Sony have refused to comment on these reports until the official release – taking place on Thursday.
