Ryan Payton Leaving Kojima Productions

[By Anthony]

Metal Gear Solid 4′s exexutive producer, Ryan Payton, has left Kojima Productions. In an interview with Kotaku he explained why he left the company.. When I first got wind of this I actually thought that the guy was crazy to leave such a great job, after hearing the real reason I can see why he did it. Hit the jump for the full story.

Payton said “… It feels like this is how it’s supposed to be. It’s fate,” and explained his reasons for leaving the company. He said that living and working in Japan was having an effect on him and that after he heard “pretty heavy news concerning [his] mom,” he decided that sticking close by his family was the most important thing. You can’t argue with that, the guy’s right.

Payton isn’t the first person you think of when you think of Metal Gear or Kojima Productions (Guess who’s first) but he definitely had an effect on the series’ latest game ‘Guns Of The Patriots’. Ryan is the guy that helped make Metal Gear more ‘western-friendly’ and introduced the Japanese team behind the game to the type of control you see in western developed games.

I think everyone would agree with Ryan that he has made the right decision to leave Kojima Productions and I think that everyone would wish him every success in the future. He might be leaving, it doesn’t mean he won’t come back though. This guy will probably be making more amazing games in the future and how good would it be to have Kojima Productions on your CV (resume to any Americans out there)?

I grabbed the pic from Kotaku and all I can keep thinking is how good that shirt is (as does PS3 Faboy’s Majed Athab). I wonder if you can buy ‘em anywhere?
