Harmonix like setting themselves targets. They’ve done it in the past and they’re about to do it again. The music game extraordinaires have said that there’ll be 1,000 tracks in Rock Band by the end of 2009.

Without factoring in Rock Band Network, Harmonix will have released 500 songs per year since the franchise was launched. The company have also said which artists will be populating the game to reach the big 1K.

Elton John, The White Stripes, Queen, Nirvana, Iggy Pop, Tom Petty, The Raconteurs, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, “and more” will all be hitting Rock Band before the close of the year.
