More PSP2 Details

Kotaku are reporting yet more details on the, as yet unannounced, PSP2. Sony apparently showed off their new handheld at a secret meeting, in their offices, during Tokyo Game Show.

“Several sources” have confirmed to the site that the new console does have a touch panel on the back (something that was rumoured previously). This apparently works in a similar way to a large trackpad. Sony didn’t provide any details on how this might be used. That it’s “at the discretion of developers.” The screen is also said to be larger and sharper than other PSPs, meaning the console itself has a larger form factor. Sony are apparently saying this screen is “HD” in these secret meetings.

A number of developers have also talked of the PSP2′s existence, lending more support to these rumours. Sources say that the handheld will be on the market by “Fall” next year. It seems clear that this thing is real, all Sony need to do is ‘announce it’.
