Kojima To Announce New Game @ TGS ’09?

Hideo Kojima has been talking, which means we all must stand up, salute, and listen. In a talk at this years Tokyo Games Show Kojima said some things, that a lot of people won’t like, about the Japanese video games industry amongst other, more positive, things. Hit the jump for more.

“If you honestly compare Japanese games with Western ones, Japan has lost.”

Kojima claimed that the current state of the industry in Japan is “dangerous” and said the fact that Western developers can bring together the biggest and best talent to make the best end products is the cause. Continuing, Kojima said that he thought the industry was becoming similar to the likes of Hollywood in the way people are doing things. A fair point. He went on to talk about how far Western developers have come and how much Western technology has improved in the past few years.

Of course Kojima wasn’t gonna leave without dropping a bombshell on the TGS audience.

“Until the end of this year, I have my hands full with Metal Gear Online, but at next year’s show, I think it’s okay that I should be able to announce something.”
