Gear Review :: Mad Catz Modern Warfare 2 Bluetooth Headset

For those who’re obsessed with Modern Warfare 2, Mad Catz made a line of accessories based off of the game. You may have already seen my review of the MW2 Combat Controller (if you haven’t, read it!) and here’s my verdict on another piece of Mad Catz MW2 hardware.Everyone who wants to play a game like Modern Warfare 2 online will need a headset, probably a Bluetooth one. So why not get a Modern Warfare 2 one? Well, because it’s ain’t the best. Don’t get me wrong, it works well enough but it’s a little rough around the edges.

The design of the headset is pretty good. It’s pretty compact and looks good. The digital camo design carries over across the whole range of accessories and fits the Modern Warfare 2 theme. The fact that it’s primarily black makes it ideal to use outside of your gaming time. The headset can be used with mobile phones and other Bluetooth enabled devices too, which is a good thing. The headset is charged via USB, meaning you can charge it through your PS3. However, you can’t use it whilst it’s charging (or at least I couldn’t) which could be a bit of a problem.

The sound quality is fairly good, but you can certainly do better for the price. With Sony’s official Bluetooth headset able to all of the things mentioned above and more, I think a lot of people would go with that one.

The biggest problem I had with this headset was the fact it’s super uncomfortable. Using this during a another multi-hour play session was certainly not a good idea. A lot of headsets like this are uncomfortable, but this really did start to hurt after a while. It can be used in either ear, which is a bonus, but not much of one.

This headset is pretty standard stuff. For those who’re really into Modern Warfare 2 you might want to pick this up, but there are certainly better headsets available on the market.
