Firmware 3.10 Brings Facebook To PS3

Whilst Microsoft might have already rolled out their social networking options (to LIVE gold members only) in the latest Xbox 360 Dashboard update, it’s Sony’s turn to get integrated. In a video posted on the PlayStation Blog, Eric Lempel shows off the new features that 3.10 will bring to the PS3.

Facebook is just one of three key things to be introduced in this update. Alongside the worlds favourite social networking option is a new layout for your photos (c’mon, really?). Now your snaps will be displayed in a grid format for easier access.

The last, and for many the most important, additions 3.10 will bring is a decrease in the fugliness of the friends list. Rather than having each friend covered in a big grey box, now it’s only the highlighted chum that’ll be boxed in. In addition to this you’ll be able to change the colour of your box and it will be reflected when your friends highlight you too.

There’s no date for this just yet, but I think we should be expecting it sooner rather than later. Check out the video after the jump. Wait…where’s our cross-game voice chat?
