Better late than never, we have Barlow and Ryan talking all things E3. Yes, the duo even delved into a little of what Microsoft and Nintendo had to offer at this year’s show in Los Angeles; though the show was still firmly rooted in Sony-based banter.

Tired and drained from following a week’s worth of industry news, the show is a little shorter than usual, but it’s still one you should enjoy.

Well what do we have here? Is this a new podcast? That’s exactly what it is! This is Fans Of The Genre a new PlayStation-centric podcast from the editors of ThePlayStatioNetwork. Seeing as we work with a skeleton crew nowadays, it’s been hard to keep up with the masses of news each day, so we decided to start a new podcast to deliver your news in a big chunk at the end of each week. Cool, right? Enjoy!

This inagural episode didn’t exactly get off to a flying start. We were a man down as Ryan had gone AWOL so we (Anthony Barlow and Ian Ball) started the show without him. We talked about the awesomeness of LA Noire, Ian gives us the lowdown on DiRT 3, we discuss ‘Call Of Duty: Elite’ and how great it is to have the PlayStation store back.

We also talked at length about Sony’s plans for E3 and made some pretty bold predictions as to what we were going to see. At this point Ryan had joined us, which was nice of him. Why not listen to three nerds struggle to think of a franchise Sony could bring back.

The Across The Pond podcast was the only regular podcasting outlet for Ryan and I for the longest time. Now we’ve got a lot going on and it’s kinda hard to keep up with every single bit of news that comes out of the industry each week. With that in mind Across The Pond will now be a monthly show where we can talk about the biggest issues from the past four/five weeks. We’re always going to have a guest too.

Javi Rodriguez, overlord of the GameOverNation, joined us this week to talk all things NGP and to help us predict the rest of 2011. I think you should listen to this. You might even enjoy it.

As we stated on the final Across The Pond of the year, 2011 will see TPSN undergo some changes. The final details of this are still being ironed out with all involved, but we know you won’t be disappointed. You’ll be getting a different TPSN (no, we aren’t going multiplatform), but one that will best appeal to both content writers and readers alike. The first of these proposed changes is an addition. That’s right, we’re doing more work for you lot!

ThePlayStatioNetwork podcast is still to be titled (submit your suggestions in the comments) and is hosted by myself, Ryan and Ian. Fingers crossed we’ll get Kris and Paul on at some point too. This ‘zero-episode’ of the show allows us to test the water and we can also deliver a proper Game Of The Year discussion – something we’ve wanted to do for a while – so hopefully you’ll enjoy it. Unlike Across The Pond, which is now going to be a monthly show, this is PS3 only.

So I’ve gathered a very small opinion poll (Ryan and I) and we consider this the best episode of Across The Pond that has ever been. Sure, we had some good ones in the beginning with Amos, but Amos Ngai is no Javi Rodriguez.

That’s right, the host of the G’Ovah podcast (and IGN GameScoop superfan) Javi Rodriguez joined the regular podcasting crew and, as expected, it was a complete and utter shambles. Seriously though, what more did you expect from us?

Not only did we bring in a, very lively, guest we also brought back our news segment. ‘The Rundown’ was dropped after a few episodes but, after being asked by, literally, tens of people I brought the segment back. I think it works well and it’s not going anywhere any time soon. Listen to the podcast below.

So I let this go by the wayside again, sorry. I know that, on this subject at least, my word means nothing. However, from now on, I promise the show notes will be uploaded here (along with the podcsast) each week.

I know I said I’d be posting show notes here on a regular basis and I also know that didn’t happen. From here on out that’s the plan. Partly to advertise that the TPSN crew are on a podcast and partly to give you, dear reader, the chance to see what we’ve been talking about this week.

This week myself and Ryan were joined by, resident Scouser, Ian Ball and Tom Worthington (who also works for ThatGamingSite). We talked a lot about Heavy Rain this week, so if you don’t want to spoil the game for yourself (believe me, you don’t) then I’d skip ‘Sake It To Me’ all together. There’s a fair few spoilers in effect, but not too many.

As per usual we also talked a bit about what we had been playing/watching/listening to and read through whatever comments you may have left for us.

Hey guys, I’m going to start posting the show notes for the Across The Pond podcast up on the site. I hope you don’t mind. To be honest, I’m posting these here today, because you’ll never hear the show itself. Episode 17 has been rendered unlistenable due to some terrible audio ‘watermarking’. You won’t be able to hear the shambles that was, but you’ll be able to see what we chatted about. Two hours of life wasted.

As per usual, Ryan and I hosted the show and we were joined by, GamerWok Editor In Chief (and former ATP host), Amos Ngai.
