The PlayStation logo is one of the most well known logos across the world, but Sony seem to think that allowing other manufacturers to use the famous Triangle, Circle, Square and Cross will bring yet more awareness to the PlayStation brand. Allowing them to advertise without the increased spending.

“This is living” could soon be taking on a much larger meaning.

In a financial report, the newspaper stated that Sony are set to announce this in the coming days and will have made an operating profit of between 10 billion and 30 billion Yen ($114.63 million – $343.89 million). It also seems that the games division is behind some of this, achieved via their “cost-cutting measures.”.

It’s good news for Sony and even better for the games division. A profitable quarter for them has been a rarity in recent years. Sony have refused to comment on these reports until the official release – taking place on Thursday.

The patch, which is set to become available “close to the launch of the PlayStation Move.”, has been something many Resident Evil and PlayStation fans have been looking forward to. Especially those of us who abhor RE5′s control scheme (like me!). “Technical reasons” are being blamed for the ‘Gold’ only patch.

“This will only work with RE5 copies labeled ‘Gold Edition’ — the original version of RE5 won’t be receiving the patch, for technical reasons,” Shuman says, additionally noting that the patch itself will become available on PSN “close to the launch of the PlayStation Move.”

The patch will be available on disc in a reissued ‘Gold Edition’ shortly after the release of Sony’s new controller. Just to include those that can’t get to the net on their PS3′s. I think it would’ve been nicer to include those who don’t like buying their games again first, Capcom. Just sayin’.

Firmware 3.41 is mandatory and does…not a lot really. This addition adds a ‘You May Like’ feature to the PlayStation Store. Definitely a cool feature, but is it worth a whole update? Sony seems to think so.

PSP owners can also get in on the firmware updating action, as 6.31 for PSP is also available.

At Capcom’s Street Fighter panel, Street Fighter IV producer, Yoshinori Ono announced another new fighting game. For the first time Street Fighter and Tekken will combine and characters from the two franchises (including: Ryu, Kazuya and Nina Williams) will be able to take on oneanother in tag team-style combat. The project has oft been rumored, but has finally come into fruition.

The most interesting part of this is that there’ll be two games. Street Fighter X (pronounced “cross”) Tekken will be produced by the Street Fighter IV team and Tekken X Street Fighter will be produced by the team behind Tekken 6.

The game’s release window is currently set for “not for a while!”. So it looks like we have some time to wait. Check out the screens after the jump.

Miller was one of the most outspoken people about the new look of inFamous 2′s protagonist and, although it’s yet to be revealed, he knows that Sucker Punch have taken the community comments on board and are making Cole similar to how he was in the original game.

Although IGN are not at liberty to disclose what Cole now looks like, hopefully we’ll find out soon. It definitely seems like good news though.

The official Rock Band Twitter has been a hive of activity and Harmonix gave fans clues as to which artists they were going to announce. Turns out Marilyn Manson, The B-52′s, Def Leppard and Tears For Fears will be on the Rock Band 3 disc and there’s more announcements to come throughout the con.

Those looking for their next Play.Create.Share. fix, only have four months to wait until the game hits shelves. It’s a good job too, because there’s a myriad of choices to be made in regards to your LBP2 experience – ranging from, the standard, $60 to $80 for the collectors edition (all of which can be seen in the gallery below). That’s right, the Devon-born songstress will be lending her voice to a new Bond-girl and providing an exclusive song for the game’s soundtrack. Alongside her will be Daniel Craig, Judy Dench and other faces fans of the movies will be familiar with.

There’s been rumblings that the Blur developer was working on a new Bond game and now we know that was the case. The fact it’s not a racing title is certainly a surprise. Bloodstone will be a third-person action adventure game, something that’s pretty much a world away from what the developer is used to doing.

Players can expect “an explosive third-person action adventure where they will unravel an international conspiracy across exotic locales” as well as “full-throttle, behind-the-wheel action on land and sea while using the most high tech gadgetry”. Activision hope to capture the feel of the Bond movies, which is no easy task, especially with no movie to base it on.

The publisher has announced that they’re working with Romino Games on Swords & Soliders. Having been originally released on WiiWare last year, the side-scrolling RTS, which allows players to control Viking, Aztec and Chinese armies in single player and multiplayer missions, is headed to the PlayStation Network this ‘Fall’.

In addition to awesome HD graphics, online multiplayer has also been added alongside “up to 20 PlayStation Network trophies”. That’s right, you don’t just have to play the game because you want to, or for fun, there’s a little bit of an incentive.
