Capcom Talks SFIV DLC

It’s one week until, arguably the biggest fighting franchise ever, Street Fighter, returns to the shelves and already Capcom are talking downloadable content. Like many other fighting franchises that have hit the current generation of consoles downloadable content will be offered. Famitsu revealed earlier this week that Street Fighter IV would be getting downloadable content. Nice. What’s nicer is, some of it will be free.
The magazine revealed that Capcom plans to roll out weekly costume packs. These costumes will be released in packs of five each week and will ultimately give every one of the 25-person roster a new costume. Famitsu also revealed that, shortly after all of the packs are released, Capcom plans to release a full pack which will include all 25 costumes. Capcom have announced the pricing of the costumes for North America and they’ll come in at $3.99. Not too bad I guess.
Famitsu also spoke of the first free downloadable for the game, ‘Championship Mode’. This mode is expected to drop shortly after the release of the game and will add 3 new features, all of which are expected to be used by hardcore players only. With this DLC, players will be able to record, share and watch other players matches with Replay Mode, this DLC will also add “improved tournament match making for beginners and mid-level players,”. Capcom explained that competitors earn Grade Points (GP) to earn entry into more advanced tournaments.”. Finally, two new point systems will be added – Championship and Tournament – both of which will be used to guage player skill.
Not bad, not bad at all. Hopefully we’ll get more free DLC like the stuff above. That’d be nice Capcom.
