That’s right folks, Kojima’s teaser has been updated again and, yet again, there’s another countdown clock. This time the clock is scheduled for the beginning of E3. More notably is the fact that significant imagery has begun to show up on the site. Images of both Big Boss and Raiden have been spotted on the site as well as in a scan from, Japanese gaming mag, Famitsu (below). So, can we safely say new Metal Gear at E3?

For those who don’t follow the main storyline of the Metal Gear Solid series, Big Boss was the protagonist from Metal Gear Solid 3 (a prequel) and is the ‘original’ Snake. This person is where the many ‘Snake brothers’ have come from. As for Raiden he’s the boy/girl turned bad ass from Metal Gears 2 and 4 respectively.
The fact that Raiden shows up in the teaser is unsurprising as Raiden is, in fact, Japanese for “thunder and lightning”. Delving deeper into Metal Gear ‘lore’ it was also said that Raiden was born on a rainy day (or words to that effect). So if you’re reading into this (which I am) then I believe that this game could be Raiden’s origin story. However, the inclusion of Big Boss leads me to believe that there are two new Metal Gear games on the horizon. Perhaps Kojima is planning to announce a new Metal Gear game starring Raiden for PS3 and a sequel to Portable Ops (which starred Big Boss) for the PSP.
Who knows? Well…Kojma does and hopefully he’ll let us know more two at E3, preferably at Sony’s conference.
