Bethesda Buy id

Fallout developers Bethesda have snapped up legendary developers id Software. The creators of DOOM, Wolfenstein and, the upcoming, RAGE.

This certainly came out of the blue to me, but the “marrige” of two of the best games developers is certainly something that excites me. id definitely have a pedigree of making good shooters and if you combine that with something like Fallout then it certainly bodes well for us gamers.

CEO of id Tom Hollenshead said of the transaction:

“This was a unique opportunity to team with a smart, sophisticated publisher like Bethesda Softworks where the interests of the studio and the publisher will be fully aligned in the development and marketing of our titles. In addition, we will now have financial and business resources to support the future growth of id Software, a huge advantage which will result in more and even better games for our fans.”
