Battlefield 1943 Dated?

I’m urging myself not to make the obvious “dated” joke here. I better get on before I just blurt it out.
That’s right EA have finally announced a date for, the fairly highly anticipated, Battlefield 1943. For those who don’t know, the game is pretty much a remake of, DICE’s other WWII shooter, Battlefield 1942 that can now be played on consoles. The game is being created with the Frostbite engine used on Bad Company and certainly looks promising.
According to the June edition of the official EA newsletter (above), you’re not going to have to wait long to get you some WWII action. The game will be released on PSN on July 10th in North America, although I think we can assume this game will be released in all territories simultaneously.
The game really wasn’t on my radar until earlier this week, it definitely sounds cool and is likely to be available for around £10, a great price for a game like this. We’ll be sure to have a review shortly after the game releases.
[Update] – DICE Producer, Gordon Van Dyk commented on the EA UK forums that the company are still wotking on the game and basically says that the date in the newsletter is unconfirmed. Sorry for getting your hopes up guys.
